Who operates The Legal Circle
The Legal Circle is a legal media, networking and professional growth community. The website was designed and built by Magneo, which does not operate The Legal Circle and does not access personal information submitted through the website.
Information we collect
We collect information that you choose to provide:
- Event registration: first name, last name, company name, email address, telephone number and event interests or preferences selected in the form.
- Contributor submissions: first name, last name, email address, telephone number, contribution type, proposal or message, and the communication or processing choices recorded with the submission.
- Email enquiries: your email address and the information included in your message and subsequent correspondence.
Our hosting and form providers may also receive technical request information needed to deliver their services, such as an IP address, browser information and request details.
Please do not submit confidential client information, privileged material or unnecessary sensitive personal information through a website form or general email.
How we use information
We use personal information to respond to enquiries; administer event interest registrations; send confirmed event, venue and booking information; review contribution proposals; communicate with potential contributors, interviewees and speakers; organize community, editorial and event activities; maintain consent and communication records; protect the website; and meet legal obligations.
Event registrants receive communications relating to the event. Newsletters and other promotional communications are sent only when a person separately selects the applicable communications option or another lawful basis applies. Every promotional email will provide a way to unsubscribe.
Sharing and service providers
The website is hosted through GitHub Pages. Event and contributor forms are provided by HubSpot. When you load or submit an embedded form, your browser connects to HubSpot infrastructure and the submitted information is processed in the HubSpot account used by The Legal Circle.
Finance & Law is presented with Plov Talks. Registration information for that event is shared with Plov Talks as co-organiser to plan, administer and communicate about the event. Plov Talks may not use that information for unrelated promotional communications unless it has a separate lawful basis or consent.
We may disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect legal rights, security or safety. We do not sell personal information.
Retention
We keep event registrations, contributor proposals, enquiries and related records only as long as reasonably needed for the relevant event, proposal, enquiry, consent record, legal obligation or dispute. When information is no longer required, it is deleted, anonymized or securely retained where a legal or administrative obligation requires it.
Processing outside Canada
HubSpot, GitHub and their service providers may process information outside Canada. Information processed in another country may be subject to that country’s laws and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement or regulators there. The Legal Circle does not maintain a separate spreadsheet or external database of website submissions.
Your choices and requests
You may unsubscribe from optional communications using the link in the message or by emailing us. Withdrawing from optional communications does not prevent us from responding to a request or sending information necessary to administer an event registration or contributor proposal.
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to personal information we hold about you, ask for a correction, or withdraw consent where applicable. We may need to verify your identity and may be unable to provide information where a legal exception applies.

Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the information handled and limit access to people who need it for the purposes described above. No internet transmission or storage method is completely secure.
Cookies and embedded services
The website uses Google Analytics 4, measurement ID G-QZK4G9K20V, to understand website visits, and Google Tag Manager, container GTM-M3MTPBTV, to manage optional measurement technologies. These services do not load unless you select Accept optional. If you reject optional tracking, the website’s content, navigation and essential functionality remain available.
Your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage for up to six months so the website can remember it. This preference record contains only whether optional tracking was accepted or rejected and the time the choice was saved. You can review or change the choice at any time using Cookie preferences in the footer. Rejecting after previously accepting reloads the page and removes common Google measurement cookies where the browser permits.
The Events and Get Featured pages load HubSpot’s embedded-form script from js-na3.hsforms.net and submit form data to forms-na3.hsforms.com. These connections are needed to display and process the forms. HubSpot’s behaviour can vary with account configuration, browser settings and future service changes.
Google may receive technical information such as browser details, page addresses and interaction information after optional tracking is accepted. Google Analytics uses _ga and _ga_* cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions. Their default lifespan is two years, subject to browser limits and account configuration; cookie lifespan is separate from provider-side data retention. Additional cookies and retention periods depend on the tags configured in the container. The Legal Circle will update this notice if additional optional providers or materially different tracking purposes are introduced.

The website links to services including LinkedIn and Plov Talks. External services have their own privacy practices and are not controlled by this policy.
Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when our website, activities or legal requirements change. The effective date will be revised when a material update is published.
